The artist Tahani Abu Elsoud who donated the profit of 50 of her paintings to Hospital 57357 is the mother of Dr. Ibrahim Shalabi, physician ,talented and patriotic writer, and one of Hospital 57357 most important supporters. Five years ago he wrote a book titled “getting out of the bubble” where he presented 57357’s success story, portraying life inside the Hospital and the relationships between patients and doctors. The book conveys the Hospital’s noble mission of helping children overcoming the dreadful disease through supporting them physically and psychologically. The writer who received the Emirates’ communication prize, the top literary prize in the Arab world, offered his book as a knowledge trust in favor of 57357’s children.
The writer has also offered his book “military regiment 103” where he demonstrated our martyrs’ heroism, as another knowledge trust in favor of 57357’s children. He organized a number of seminars in 57357 to discuss the book that represents a message for young generations showing the greatness of the Egyptian army.
About his book “getting out of the bubble” the writer Shalabi says: I got the idea of this book from Hospital 57357, that wonderful place which grants hope in life while helping sick children going through their ordeal. This place is committed to setting concepts of justice, equity, charitable giving and dedication through the unique relationship between patients and physicians and nurses.
Through the novel’s hero Samer who is a patient in 57357, the writer is conveying humanitarian messages about life, death and friendship. These messages aim to support children and their families through their journey with the disease by stressing on the positive side of the ordeal. Looking at the ordeal from another perspective, the writer demonstrates how the disease that we fear can change our life to better, give us a push and can make of us us deep and stronger believers, enabling us to overcome any difficulty.
About his book “military regiment 103” the writer says: it is a book that I cherish and I present it for future generations to see how great the Egyptian army is and how brave its soldiers, the 103 regiment soldiers are, as they witnessed the martyrdom of 15 of them by Sinai terrorists during the last two years. I gathered the stories of those martyrs in this book in which Hospital 57357 was also portrayed because of the strong relationship between the soldiers and martyrs of the 103 regiment and 57357 on one hand and of the military School and the Hospital on the other. It is customary for the students of the military school and members of the 103 regiment to donate ongoing sadaka to the Hospital and visit 57357’s children.
