At 57357, strict procedures for infection control are applied, and the slogan “preserve your life by cleaning your hands” is highlighted.
On May 5th the WHO celebrates the World hands hygiene day through its campaign “ Save lives- Clean your hands” and raises the slogan “unite for safety .. clean your hands”. The campaign stresses on the need for people to believe in the importance of cleaning hands to save lives, and the diligence of healthcare staff and those who deal with healthcare facilities in cleaning their hands to avoid spread of diseases.
Dr. Ola Mohamed, head of 57357’s communication and awareness department, revealed that 90% of diseases disappear when we wash our hands. We collaborate with the infection control department to protect the Hospital’s children. We make them and their families aware of the importance of cleaning hands and the right steps to do it. All the Hospital staff are committed to the most important infection control procedure, which is cleaning hands, to protect sick children from infection, as they have low immunity, she added.
Through Hospital 57357’s campaign launched by the awareness department about the importance of cleaning hands and teaching it to our children, we spread awareness in the community about the importance of cleaning hands before eating, when using the bathroom and after touching things.
Through the advertising material available on 57357’s website, we illustrate the right way to wash hands, through Essam and the lantern episodes, and inform the public about infection control guidelines and disease causes and prevention. The hand cleaning ads are not only directed to children and Hospital staff, but to the whole society, since prevention is better than treatment.
In a previous meeting with Dr. Nagwa Khamis, head of Hospital 57357’s infection control department, she shared that since the beginning of Hospital 57357’s operation we are applying strict procedures for infection control, where at the Hospital, we work hard to guaranty clean safe environment for children with cancer. On top of the list of these procedures is hands hygiene. Also, we set up an infection control lab which includes special units for the sanitization purification, and safety of food, blood bags, medications, air and surfaces, since children with cancer are already endangered because of low immunity.
Hence, 57357 is raising the slogan of “infection prevention” before infection control. At 57357, we have protection plans against any contagious disease. Such plans were among the Hospital qualifications to obtain the JCI accreditation three consecutive times.
Cleaning hands is one of the most effective procedures to eliminate the spread of diseases and infection control, including COVID-19 infection. Hence in 57357 we raise the slogan “protect your life by cleaning your hands”.
