Rodaina’s mother: God granted my daughter recovery, and still many children in hospital 57357 need bone marrow transplantation
We were trying to save every piaster to treat our son Ibrahim from atrophy in the brain and muscles. Suddenly we discovered that our young daughter Rodaina is attacked by cancer, her condition was dangerous and her treatment is tough, long and costly. But thanks be to God, he blessed us with Hospital 57357 and relieved us from the burden of the cost of treatment. We started Rodaina’s treatment journey three years ago, and we paid nothing.
The mother pursues: “Rodaina is six years old, she lived more than half her age within the walls of 57357, as she was attacked by the disease when she was 3 years, and still her treatment journey is ongoing”.
Rodaina was screaming of pain, had fever, and abdominal bloating, shared Rodaina’s mother. Doctors were confused about her diagnosis, they requested x-rays and tests, finally they said that she had a tumor on the adrenal gland. The word tumor was shocking for her father and myself, we didn’t know what to do. By then, we had seen the Hospital’s ads on TV and we were convinced that it was our only chance to see her recovering from this terrible disease. We hurried to the Hospital and she was put on a waiting list. After 10 days they called us, and started the tests and treatment immediately. Rodaina’s condition was tough, she was screaming permanently, but doctors and nurses treated her as their daughter. I cannot forget the day when nurses celebrated her birthday on the first week of her hospitalization to please her and us despite the circumstances.
Rodaina’s treatment journey was long and tough. 6 intensive chemotherapy doses and 4 diluted ones, a surgery to remove the tumor, followed by chemotherapy doses again. The tumor was of a tough type, doctors said that we have to perform a bone marrow transplantation (BMT) to increase her recovery chances. What we found out is that many children need BMT, while the beds are limited, and she had to wait. We knew that the Hospital is expanding the BMT unit to eliminate the waiting list. I was praying to God to enable them to expand, so that Rodaina and other children could be treated.
Finally she had the BMT, and we returned back home a month ago. We kept in touch with the Hospital to tell us how to deal with her condition after the transplantation. My son Ibrahim is sick too. He suffered from lack of oxygen after birth, which affected his brain and movement, but I am thanking God and feel satisfied, and pray to God to grant Rodaina and Ibrahim healing.
To see your children sick is the toughest thing in the world. I wish that people would have empathy for each other, and whoever can contribute would not hesitate. I am praying to God to increase the donations to the Hospital, so they can increase the beds of the BMT unit, and save other children like Rodaina.
Nothing is harder that a child’s sickness, your support will help us pursue our mission and provide free treatment to children.
