General guidelines for visitors or companions:
- Don’t visit the patient if you’re sick or showing respiratory infection symptoms.
- If you have a cold or cough symptoms and need to accompany the patient, inform the registration office and wear a surgical mask in the outpatient waiting areas.
- Follow the instructions before visiting, especially in isolation cases.
- Use hand sanitizer before and after visiting the patient.
- You should take care of your personal hygiene while accompanying the patient.
- Make sure to use the cleaning solution during your child’s daily hygiene.
Hand Hygiene:
Why?
To prevent the spread of healthcare-associated infections.
How?
With soap and water.
Alcohol-based hand sanitizer (not to be used if hands are visibly dirty).
When?
For visitors/staff:
- When entering and leaving patient rooms.
- Before preparing or eating food.
- Before touching a wound area or IV catheter.
- After touching contaminated surfaces.
- After coughing or sneezing.
- After using the restroom.
- After changing children’s diapers
- For patients:
- After using the restroom.
- Before eating.
- Before touching an IV catheter or a wound area.
- After coughing or sneezing.
- When leaving the room and when re-entering it.
How do you wash your hands with soap and water?
- For 40 to 60 seconds.
- Wet your hands with water.
- Apply an amount of soap to cover the surface of your hand.
- Rub the palm of one hand with the palm of the other.
- The palm of your right hand on the back of your left hand with fingers interlaced and vice versa.
- The back of the fingers with the palm of the other hand, fingers joined.
- Make circular motions with the left thumb then the right.
- Make circular motions back and forth with the fingers of your right hand on the palm of your left hand and vice versa.
- Rinse your hands with running water.
- Dry your hands with a clean single-use towel.
- Turn off the water using a clean single-use towel.
- Your hands are safe now.
How do you rub your hands with alcohol?
- For 20 to 30 seconds.
- Fill your fist with sanitizer covering all surfaces.
- Rub the palm of one hand with the palm of the other.
- The palm of your right hand on the back of your left hand with fingers interlaced and vice versa.
- Palm to palm with fingers interlaced.
- The back of the fingers with the palm of the other hand, fingers joined.
- Make circular motions with the left thumb then the right.
- Make circular motions back and forth with the fingers of your right hand on the palm of your left hand and vice versa.
- Your hands are safe when they are dry.
