Pediatric Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplant Fellowship-Track 1

Dear Future Colleague,

This innovative program will deliver structured clinical training in Pediatric Bone Marrow Transplant at the Children’s Cancer Hospital Egypt 57357 (57357), In collaboration with the University of Alabama- The Children’s Hospital of Alabama and Dana Farber Cancer Institute-Boston Children’s Hospital. This program aims to develop and conduct specialized training in Bone Marrow transplants for physicians from Egypt, the Middle East, and North Africa (MENA). The International Clinical Training Program (Fellowship) in Pediatric Bone Marrow Transplant is designed to provide clinical education and training, equipping international providers with the skills needed to manage pediatric and young adult candidates for HSCT. The program offers extensive clinical and research experience in transplantation and cellular therapy for treating malignant diseases. This approach addresses the significant challenges in managing these tumors, particularly in Low-Middle Income Countries (LMICs).

The twelve-month rotation plan for HSCT includes a variety of areas to ensure comprehensive training. It begins with one month dedicated to translational research, followed by another month in the BMT laboratory. Trainees will then spend four months in the BMT inpatient unit and three months in the BMT outpatient clinic. Additionally, one month will be allocated to the Apheresis Unit. The program also includes a one-month onsite rotation at the University of Alabama, specifically at The Children’s Hospital of Alabama, and another one-month rotation at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute-Boston Children’s Hospital.
