Hospital 57357 celebrated World Pharmacist Day, with an event attended by a constellation of leading experts in the field of pharmacy, the Director General of the General Administration of Pharmaceutical Care at the Ministry of Health in Saudi Arabia, the Deputy Director of ASHP (the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists), as well as professors of pharmacy from King Saud University, Riyadh and the College of Pharmacy at St. John’s University, USA, In addition, professors of pharmacy from Cairo University, the Canadian University in Egypt, and the British University in Egypt were present.
The celebration, themed “Healing Hands with Globe Plans,” was opened by Dr. Sherif Abuel Naga, 57357 Group CEO and the hospital’s General Director who shared the history of the establishment of its clinical pharmacy, which culminated in the acquirement of the ASHP accreditation of the Hospital’s clinical pharmacy residency program in the Middle East.
The celebration featured presentations from professors in Egypt, Saudi Arabia, and the US, discussing clinical pharmacy applications and challenges. Virtual participants from the ASHP and St. John’s University added an international perspective.
The celebration honored Dr. Mostafa Alsalamoni, a key benefactor of 57357, and Dr. Kamal Sabra, Pharmacy Professor at Cork University in Ireland and former health official. Both have been instrumental in the hospital’s success.
It is noteworthy that since 2009, September 25th has been chosen to commemorate World Pharmacists Day. The celebration aims to highlight pharmacists’ contributions to healthcare and patient well-being.
