In order to offer maximum accuracy, comfort and safety for the patients, the hospital acquired and started operating the smart infusion pump to be used in the Daycare Unit, Intensive Care Unit and Bone Marrow Transplantation Unit.
Similar to the old pump the smart pump regulates the chemotherapy flow with some extra advantages:
– It can be connected to a central monitoring station so the nurse can respond to any alarm quickly
– It has a Centerium software application that enables remote distribution of drug libraries and monitoring of fleet devices which eliminates the chance for human errors
– It includes a dose error reduction system, so when medications are placed on what’s called hard limit, the nurse can’t change the rate of medication flow
– The battery life time is three years and it has what’s called smart design where it has a very small size and can be installed on a specific holder that prevents fluid from falling on the pump which preserves its life time
– The smart pump can be connected to the health information system “Cerner”
– The holder is very stable since it depends on five doubled wheels which prevent accidents, and it has five places to hold medications which are far from the smart pump so there is no chance to spell medications on the pump
– It has a docking station that may hold four, eight or sixteen pumps with an audial and visual alarm to warn the nurse when it finishes
The smart pumps are donated by our charity partner Commercial International Bank, CIB and are supplied by the French company Frsenius Kabi, which have been cooperating with 57357 since its inception
