Despite the Covid19 global crisis which has a drastic effect on the international economy, 57357 continues to focus on fulfilling its mission of spreading knowledge and tuning it into action.
Through collaboration with ENPACT, a nonprofit organization based in Germany and represented by Dr. Rawan Bassam, the managing director of ENPACT Cairo and Eng. Salma Nassar, digital marketing and social media coordinator along with RISE institute in Sweden, 57357 will act as the hosting facility for a first time program in Egypt and the Middle East, the clinical innovation fellowship 2020. ENPACT is a German nonprofit organization that is all about empowering and developing entrepreneurship and enabling international collaboration. It operates in continents with emerging markets or developing countries.
At the Hospital, we look forward to be the hosting facility for clinical immersion and to provide all the support for the participants to successfully complete their program. The goal of the Clinical Innovation Fellowship is to improve healthcare by identifying clinical needs and challenges gathered on the ground through a clinical immersion phase and creating tailored solutions to address those needs. The program’s duration is 8 months, six weeks of them in Hospital 57357, and out of 80 applicants from all over Egypt, 8 participants with backgrounds in medicine, engineering, design and/or business have been selected to work in two multidisciplinary teams throughout the program.
The program is owned by an institution called RISE which is a research institute in Sweden. it is an independent governmental research institute that has more than 3000 researchers and research centers that focus on developing technologies and innovations to help development in healthcare systems in general.
The Hospital has been super supportive and very enthusiastic to adopt this initiative, specially as this program is implemented for the first time out of Europe. The entire purpose of the fellowship is that participants based on their observations can specify certain problems or certain ways of improvement, then work on developing solutions so at the end of the program they come out with a concept, and later on can convert it to a viable business model.
The deliverables expected from the participants during their clinical immersion in 57357 are to observe very process that is taking place and from their understanding of the Hospital’s health system and the guidance of their supervisors they would develop a list of needs that are validated by the management and the staff. Then they are to suggest solutions for the needs which can be just an area of improvement. The deliverable that they should come out with are based on their understanding of the health system in the Hospital and in Egypt in general. They should come out with 10 needs or more and select one of them to find solution for.
