For the third consecutive year, Hospital 57357 is celebrating world pharmacists day on September 25th. The celebration which starts on Sept. 23, will last for 3 days and is featuring on line lectures and workshops where more than 55 of leading pharmacy experts from around the world will be sharing in the event. The celebration includes the graduation of the first cohort of pharm D program and the second and third cohorts of the resident pharmacist program.
According to Dr. Sherif Kamal, head of Hospital 57357’s clinical pharmacy, the celebration this year is special because of the participation of the leaders of the Egyptian Drugs Authority headed by Dr. Tamer Essam, and for the announcement of the application of a career ladder in pharmacy by 57357 for the first time in Egypt.
Among the distinct activities this year, 57357’s initiative to organize the first workshop in the field of medical professional training that gathers pharmacists, physicians and nurses. The workshop is conducted with the participation of Dr. Azza Agha, Vice President of the Chinese University in Egypt and Dr. Keri Franson, Vice Dean for Students Affairs, South California University. Also among the distinct sessions, a discussion session about the challenges and requisites of the oncology pharmacist. Among participants in the session, are Hospital 57357 pharmacists who have been treated from cancer in their childhood in the Hospital, and they pursued their studies to become pharmacists and work for 57357. During the session, the President of the European Society of Oncology Pharmacists will share in the discussion.
During the celebration many studies and researches will be discussed, amongst which a lecture by Dr. Kamal Sabra, the founder of clinical pharmacy in Ireland, and former Egypt’s Assistant Minister of Health, where they will discuss propagating trust in pharmacists in the community within the context of the spread of and fight against the Corona virus pandemic.
The International Pharmaceutical Federation FIP dedicated September 25 to be the world pharmacists’ day and is celebrating it annually since 2009, aiming to raise awareness about the pharmacists’ role and to encourage the activities that support the role of pharmacists in improving healthcare.
