The visit included a tour in the clinical pharmacy and its departments, and a meeting with Dr. Kamal during which he educated the students about the importance of clinical pharmacy in hospitals. He explained how clinical pharmacy is an integrated system to support healthcare, and depends on activating the pharmacist’s role and using his education and experiences within the healthcare setting starting by the supervision of medication tenders, the follow up of their shipment and storage and to insure the safety of all procedures that may affect their effectiveness. Then comes the pharmacist’s responsibility in preparing the medication and his participation in specifying the dose which differs from a patient to another, and his follow up on the its effect to modify the dose if required. The goal of all of this is to guaranty that the patient gets the right medication with the right dose to obtain the best effect and least side effects. The pharmacist also contributes to rationalizing the use of medications, saving medication expenses and saving time and effort for the patient and the medical team.
Hospital 57357 is always willing to share its experience in support of university students through such visits and meetings with the Hospital specialists to benefit from their expertise.
