A new study in Hospital 57357’s proteomics and metabolomics unit reveals the ability of cellular secretions of mesenchymal stem cells’ taken from the umbilical cord to fight the new Corona Virus in humans and contagious bronchitis in birds. The study that was published in Cells magazine demonstrated that the secretions contained immunoproteins and antiviruses. The tests performed in the unit found a high rate of immunoproteins and antiviruses in the secretions of mesenchymal stem cells and the antivirus efficacy of these s against the new Corona Virus in humans and contagious bronchitis in birds. The study also succeeded in describing the mechanism by which the mesenchymal stem cell secretions prevent viral infection.
The new Coronavirus in humans and contagious bronchitis in birds are considered contagious and fatal coronaviruses that cause devastating respiratory diseases in humans and chickens. The absence of effective treatment leads to the exacerbation of the spread of cases associated with Corona Virus infection in humans and contagious bronchitis in birds. Hence there is need for discovering new medications and therapeutic agents to control the virus transmission and disease exacerbation.
The importance of this study is that it provides a perspective on new antiviral treatments against the new Corona Virus in humans and contagious bronchitis in birds, using mesenchymal stem cells taken from the umbilical cord, that are considered safe and effective alternatives for traditional stem cells in treatments. The results of this study may have effect on developing effective strategies for fighting the new Corona Virus in humans and contagious bronchitis in birds, and preventing the spread of Corona in the future
The study was carried out in cooperation between the proteomics and metabolomics unit of Hospital 57357 and Al-Azhar’s Science Faculty.
