For the fifth consecutive year, Hospital 57357 organized its annual celebration of World Patient Safety Day, which falls on the 17th of September every year. The celebration was attended by a number of medical staff and representatives from the World Health Organization (WHO) and the Egyptian Red Crescent. This year’s celebration was held under the theme “Improving Diagnosis for Patient Safety,” a slogan that underscores the importance of accurate diagnosis in enhancing patient safety and improving healthcare outcomes.
Dr. Fatema Ali, Director of Continuous Performance Improvement at Hospital 57357, delivered the opening speech, highlighting the importance of patient safety. She emphasized the hospital’s commitment to implementing policies and procedures that ensure patient safety, aligning with the global patient safety goals set by the Joint Commission International (JCI) and the requirements of the General Authority for Accreditation and Quality (GAHAR). She also highlighted the crucial role of the quality team in monitoring the implementation of these procedures and educating the medical staff about their significance.
Ms. Nagwa Metwally, a member of the Egyptian Red Crescent Board of Directors and a member of the WHO International Patient Safety Committee, emphasized the importance of effective communication with patients and the need to improve diagnosis, noting that an accurate and timely diagnosis is key to receiving appropriate care and treatment.
Dr. Reham Al-Asadi, representative of the WHO, expressed gratitude to Hospital 57357 and its medical staff for their commitment to global standards for patient safety. She commended the significant efforts they are exerting in this field. The celebration included a series of lectures and panel discussions that highlighted Hospital 57357’s ongoing efforts to improve patient safety through enhanced accurate diagnosis and adherence to global standards.
