Dental Pharmacology Workshop
Overview
In this course we will have a Systematic approach to general principles of pharmacology. The course will include Study of commonly used agents in dentistry, drugs used in specific medical conditions, and drugs used in management of medical emergencies. Finally, the course will start an Introduction to newer drugs and new effects of old drug and a Brief discussion on controlled drugs and drug abuse.
Learning Objectives
By the end of this workshop participants will be able to:
• Understand the conceptual basis of drug action.
• Understand pharmacodynamics mechanisms and discuss their effects on pharmacotherapy.
• Understand pharmacokinetic processes and discuss their effect on pharmacotherapy.
• Discuss key points for practice that underlie safe and effective pharmacotherapy, including an efficient and practical approach to prescription writing.
