Oncology pharmacy 101 cohort 2
Overview
The course will focus on the role of oncology pharmacists and the basic understanding of cancer therapies and different treatment modalities, oncologic emergencies, genetics and molecular testing and the development of pharmaceutical care plan for cancer patients
Learning Outcomes
At the end of the course all participant will be able to
• Define cancer terms
• Understand Incidence in Men and Women
• Identify the most common types of cancer
• Identify the risk factors for the common types of cancer
• Recommend the screening for types of cancer
• Define cancer genetics and carcinogenesis
• Understand the hereditary cancer
• Summarize the genetic changes in cancer
• Illustrate the cancer treatment modalities
• Define the role of surgery for cancer patient
• Define the different surgical techniques
• Understand the radiation therapy techniques
• Enumerate the targeted therapy
• Differentiate between protocols, roadmap and preprinted order
• Develop ideal pharmaceutical care plan
• Understand the chemotherapy classification model
• Define the most common chemotherapy toxicities
• Manage the different toxicities of chemotherapy
