Physiotherapy internship program
Program Overview
- The aim of the training is to provide basic knowledge about cancer patient rehabilitation & practical training that prepares the participants to provide a quality physiotherapy care for cancer patients.
- This internship demonstrates knowledge about physical therapy approaches, techniques applied for cancer patient, Precautions, and contraindications of different modalities.
- It also provides participants with the ability to perform a safe, systematic and appropriate physiotherapy management for various conditions, Ability to set appropriate short and long term goals and document the progression appropriately and to work collaboratively as a part of rehabilitation team.
Program Learning Objectives
By the end of the internship participants will be able to:
- Integrate theoretical knowledge in Physiotherapy to perform relevant clinical assessment and frame appropriate management for the patients.
- Develop effective communication with patients, family and colleagues.
- Learn the principles, technique of various types of therapeutic exercises, and their effects so that high quality patient care is ensured.
- Know the principles, indications and contraindications of various types of electrotherapy and other therapeutic modality.
- Understand role of physical therapy and rehabilitation in ICU & post-operative (surgical ICU).
- Understand role of physical therapy and rehabilitation post orthopedic surgeries & neurosurgeries.
- Understand role of physical therapy and rehabilitation post radiotherapy & chemotherapy treatment.
- Understand the basic neurological conditions which commonly cause disability and their management to restore neurological function.
- Understand the basic orthopedic conditions which commonly cause disability and their management to restore musculoskeletal function.
- Understand the basic cardiorespiratory conditions which commonly cause disability and their management. Use physiotherapeutic measures as preventive / restorative Rehabilitative purposes to restore cardio-respiratory function.
