Is cancer contagious?
• Cancer is not a contagious disease, and being around the patient does not transmit the disease to others, even if there is close contact or touching for extended periods. This is simply because there is no germ that causes cancer that can be transmitted from one person to another.
Is cancer hereditary?
• To date, there is no proven genetic component in the strict scientific sense.
1. Hygiene and Cancer
• Pay attention to your personal hygiene by taking daily baths and trimming your nails.
• Keep your clothes clean and change them regularly.
• Wash your hands frequently before handling the child.
Dear mother, remember that you should:
• Ensure daily bathing for the child, regularly trim their nails, change dirty clothes frequently, and maintain overall cleanliness in the home. Wash the child’s hands regularly, especially before meals, after using the bathroom, and after playing. The child should not come into contact with anyone who has an infection or a cold.
• Vaccinations
• Do not administer any vaccinations to the child (even mandatory vaccinations) during the entire treatment period and until the protocol is complete.
• Vaccinations will be given in full after the treatment period is over, and it is essential to adhere to the vaccination schedule at the hospital only.
Important Note: – Do not have direct contact with other vaccinated children for 48 hours.
• Follow-up Visits in Outpatient Clinics
• Adhere to the scheduled check-up and follow-up appointments in outpatient clinics specified on the follow-up card, according to the treatment protocol for the child.
• Nutrition
Guidelines to consider when preparing meals:
• Wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water before preparing food.
• When consuming fresh fruits and vegetables, follow the food safety standards for washing and preparation.
• Foods should be thoroughly cooked over heat and must be fully done.
• Leftovers should be stored in airtight containers in the refrigerator within 20 minutes of preparation, and it is preferable to cook food for the child fresh each time.
• Do not use others’ utensils until they have been thoroughly washed.
• Do not eat any food outside the home as its source is unknown, and there is no guarantee of following safe cooking practices.
Note:
Immunocompromised Cases:
• Fresh fruits and vegetables without skins must not be consumed if there is immune deficiency.
• Vegetables and fruits should be washed thoroughly before peeling.
• Mayonnaise and milk are prohibited.
