Hospital 57357 welcomed the visit of Mr. Louis Dumas, the ambassador of Canada to Egypt, Mr. Jeffrey Murray, Counsellor and the accompanying delegation, Ms.Nancy Odeh, Head of Cooperation and Ms. Eman Omran, SME Program Team Leader. Our guests were greeted by Dr. Sherif Abouel Naga, 57357 Group CEO and the Hospital’s general manager and Dr. Mohamed Aggag, vice president CEO and head of the Egyptian Cancer Network Canada.
At the start of his presentation Dr. Abouel Naga, thanked our Canadian guests for their visit which carries a special flavor and meaning as it is occurring during the Holy month of Ramadan. Dr. Abouel Naga shared the story of the establishment of the Hospital since it was an idea until it became the largest children’s cancer Hospital in the world in terms of capacity. In response, Ambassador Dumas expressed his happiness to be visiting the Hospital and to deliver himself a donation of Covid vaccines, stressing that he desired to follow in the line of his predecessors who have always maintained strong ties of friendship and cooperation between the Embassy and the Hospital. The guests toured the Hospital’s different sections. They visited the research lab and met with Dr. Shahinda Elnaggar, head of research department, who shared that the department aims to develop a new generation of researchers. They stopped at the data center where they knew about the Hospital’s Cerner Informatics system which we rely on completely since we became fully automated in 2020, and the pathology lab which is the latest in Egypt. They also visited the art therapy recreation center where children with cancer can express themselves through drawing and singing.
The Ambassador offered the Hospital Covid 19 vaccines as a donation.
