Patient and Family Rights
- Hospital patient has the right to receive care, treatment and services within the hospital in accordance with regulations and systems of the hospital all the time.
- Hospital patient has the right to know the consultant and his crew who will provide health and medical care.
- Hospital patient has the right to be aware of his/her treatment plan and its various stages while staying in hospital and when leaving.
- Patient hospital has the right to participate in decision – making concerning the care, health services and treatment, and consent or refusal of any intervention procedure and sign on the dedicated consent form.
- Patient hospital has the right to receive appropriate medical care based on a decent respect for the patient and family and in line with their culture, religion and personal values.
- Hospital will maintain the privacy and confidentiality of medical information in accordance with the applicable laws and regulations.
- In case of the patient’s involvement in any medical research, he/she must be informed of all the benefits, risks and alternative therapy if any, the patient has the right to refuse to participate in a medical research project without affecting their rights in the continuation of treatment at the hospital.
- The hospital patient has the right to make a complaint regarding the service or care he receives.
Patient and Family Responsibilities
- The patient’s family is responsible for providing correct and complete information about his history and about any complications that could lead to lengthening the period of therapy.
- Patient is to follow doctor ‘s advice and guidance during the treatment period.
- Patient and his/her family are to follow the rules of the hospital and health regulations regarding abidance to wearing the proper attire, public health infection control rules and others.
- The patient and his/her family are taking into account the other patients, other persons residing with them and health service providers’ rights.
- Patient and his/her family shall preserve the buildings and property of the hospital.
- Patient and his/her family shall safeguard their personal belongings; it is their sole responsibility, if they are lost.
- The patient shall be regularly accompanied and cannot be left alone while he/she is staying in hospital.
Accompanying Person instructions during hospitalization
GENERAL REGULATIONS FOR ACCOMPANYING PERSON
- Legal guardian if available.
- If legal guardian is not available, the accompanying person should not be less than 21 years old and not more than 60 years old.
- Accompanying person is not authorized to sign a consent or take any medical decision except when he is in acquisition of a signed delegation form.
- Accompanying persons should be in good health to be able to take care of the child.
- Any accompanying person who exhibits any signs or symptoms of infectious disease will not be allowed to stay with the child.
- If the accompanying person is a pregnant woman, she should be capable of taking care of the child and shouldn’t exceed the 31st week of pregnancy (around the 8th month of pregnancy).
- If the accompanying person has a chronic disease that affects his/her vigilance around the child, he/she will not be allowed to be the accompanying person.
- If there is any exception related to the accompanying person, it will be discussed with the medical director and head of the medical department.
Abide by hospital bylaws as relayed by the admission office specialist, which include but are not limited to the following (refer to the companion consent form):
- Follow hospital bylaws for patient care from Medical staff.
- Follow hospital bylaws for safety of patient and visitors.
- Accompany the patient all the time and in the event of leaving the patient, you must notify the medical staff.
- Follow infection control guidelines and wear the hospital uniform.
- Inform medical staff about any alerts from medical devices or any issues related to patient care.
- Respect all hospital staff and other patients and never use impolite words in dealing with others.
- Don’t take any medical record form from patient records unless there is an approval from the hospital administration.
- Don’t bring any of family members to stay with the accompanying person to take care of them.
- Follow hospital visitation policy.
- Keep the strict minimum of personal belongings & valuables in the hospital, and if any, it is the accompanying person’s sole responsibility to safeguard them.
- Keep room furniture and equipment clean & functional.
- Don’t bring any food from outside the hospital.
- No weapons are allowed within the hospital premises.
- It is forbidden to go outside the hospital with his/her parents during the period of hospitalization
- The accompanying person will sign on the accompanying person form after reading all items.
- The accompanying person will wear a wrist band that includes patient name & medical record number.
