With the constant and tremendous efforts of the proteomics lab team members at CCHE57357 for two years, they were able to meet the international standards of the American council of standardization accreditation. Combined efforts of different Hospital departments were crowned with obtaining the ISO 17025, as the first lab of its kind in Egypt to obtain such accreditation.
“The ISO 17025 in mass spectrometric analysis from the ASC, is a critical step that came to assure how our generated analysis and data related to the accreditation scope meet the international standards”, said Dr. Sameh Magdeldin, head of the proteomics and metabolomics research program at CCHE57357.
The ASC is an independent institution of accreditation provision to labs that operate tests. The ISO/IEC 17025 accreditation came to confirm the reliability of the proteomics lab results within the scope of biological samples and food supplements.
“The prestigious accreditation will open up areas of cooperation with external entities, bringing in revenues that would contribute to the treatment costs of patients in the hospital “, said Dr. Sebaey Mahgoub, proteomics lab manager. Presently, the generated tests by the proteomics lab within the scope of testing vitaminB1and B2 levels can be easily accepted by international entities without a need for a re-test.
All the listed requirements of the ASC board have been fulfilled during their visit to the lab, proving the successful compliance to international standards of the ASC. The accreditation would be re-assessed in 2024.
The proteomics and metabolomics lab at CCHE57357 offers various testing services which extend to include detection of the commercial fraud and the medication remnants in the biological samples, in addition to the research services it provides to many researchers, students and the cooperation with research centers.
