Radiation Oncologist: This is the doctor in charge of radiation therapy. This doctor meets with the parents of the sick child during the first visit, and then sees the child throughout the treatment period to monitor and care for them if any side effects occur, in addition to working alongside the rest of the treatment team. The radiation specialist works closely with other doctors treating the child.

Radiation Nurse: This is the specialized nurse who works with the doctor and the rest of the treatment team to care for the child and assist them during the treatment period. The nurse will see the child whenever they need her.

Radiation Therapy Technologist: This is the person who gives the child radiation treatment daily under the supervision of the doctor. Other responsibilities include maintaining daily records and checking the machines to ensure they are functioning properly. They are the person you see daily when at the radiation treatment machines.

Medical Physicist: These are the individuals responsible for developing the radiation plan according to the treating doctor’s instructions. This adjustment and development are made using a computer to determine the optimal plan to eliminate the tumor without affecting healthy tissues.

Healthcare Specialists: These are the individuals responsible for ensuring that all the mental and physical needs of the child are met during the treatment period. They may include the social worker, nutritionist, and physical therapist.
