The genetics lab is equipped with cutting edge instruments like the Miseq sequencer, illumina iScan and RT-PCR including all additional machinery. This means you can start and finish your entire experiments all from the comfort of our lab. We offer a range of tests from small procedures like DNA extraction up to sequencing entire genes or genomes. Whatever you want to do, we can offer tailored packages to fit your needs. Our packages mostly include the use of bench space, consumables, equipment, plastic ware and reagents all brought to you at reduced market prices. This is a strictly non-profit organization and revenues are considered donations that are partly used to fund further research in our unit.
We are a team of highly trained and skilled professionals from diverse scientific backgrounds, geneticists, microbiologists, bioinformaticians and pharmacists that come together to form this unit. As such, we have a strong understanding of genetics from several perspectives and you can consult us with your work. We can guide you in choosing the right package and experiment that best fits your work, and at additional cost, we can help you complete your lab work.
The illumina sequencer can support many panels such as cancer panels and costs vary based on the output, coverage needed and number of samples. Please contact us for further details.

The BioFire FilmArray Respiratory Panel (RP) tests for a comprehensive set of 20 respiratory viral and bacterial pathogens in about one hour. The BioFire RP identifies the most common viral and bacterial pathogens that cause respiratory tract infections that present with nearly indistinguishable symptoms. The rapid and accurate identification of the causative agent helps determine how a healthcare provider chooses to treat a respiratory tract infection.
The BioFire FilmArray Gastrointestinal (GI) Panel tests for a comprehensive set of 22 gastrointestinal pathogens. The BioFire GI Panel tests stool specimens for common pathogens associated with gastroenteritis. Quickly identifying the correct pathogen can ensure appropriate treatment, improve patient management, and help detect infectious gastroenteritis, which can lead to severe illness or death.
The BioFire FilmArray Meningitis/Encephalitis (ME) Panel tests for a comprehensive set of 14 bacteria, viruses, and yeast. The BioFire ME Panel identifies the most common viral, bacterial, and yeast pathogens that cause infections in the central nervous system, which in some cases can be life threatening. The diagnosis of meningitis and encephalitis can allow faster decisions on appropriate therapy to be made to prevent complications.
The BioFire FilmArray Pneumonia (PN) Panel identifies 33 clinically relevant targets from sputum (including endotracheal aspirate) and bronchoalveolar lavage (including mini-BAL) samples. For 15 of the bacteria, the BioFire PN Panel provides semi-quantitative results, which may help determine whether an organism is a colonizer or a pathogen. The test also determines a group of resistant genes to antimicrobial agents that help in choosing the appropriate treatment.
