Cancer Biology Course 2024
Overview
This course provides a comprehensive overview of the fundamental principles and recent developments in cancer biology. It covers gene and protein expression basics, cellular signaling pathways, and cell death mechanisms. The course also delves into current hot topics in cancer research, such as identifying cancer stem cells, the tumor microenvironment, chemo resistance, and developing new immunotherapeutic approaches.
Throughout the program, participants will be introduced to various techniques used in cancer biology research, including flow cytometry, MTT assay, cell imaging, and CRISPR/Cas9-mediated genome editing. They will have opportunities to engage in activities and group discussions to foster a deeper understanding of the concepts and their practical applications.
Designed for students and professionals with backgrounds in biology, biochemistry, or related fields, this course aims to provide an in-depth understanding of cancer biology and the latest advancements in cancer research. It is intended to inspire and equip participants with the skills needed to contribute to the ongoing battle against cancer.
Learning Objectives
By the end of this training / course participants will be able to:
- Understand the molecular and cellular basis of cancer development, including the genetic and epigenetic changes that lead to abnormal cell growth and proliferation.
- Identify the key molecular processes involved in cancer development and progression and their roles in tumorigenesis and metastasis.
- Identify and critically interpret the common assays used in the cancer biology field.
- Apply the principles of cancer biology to understand and interpret the scientific literature on cancer research and critically evaluate the validity and significance of experimental findings.
