Dr. Yousry Abu Shady, former Chief Inspector of the International Atomic Energy Agency in Vienna, visited Hospital 57357. He was accompanied by Dr. Salah El Ghazaly Harb, Professor of Internal Medicine and Diabetes at Cairo University.
The visit included a tour of the hospital’s various departments, during which Dr. Yousry viewed a number of advanced departments within the hospital, including the “Cyclotron” department, which is considered one of the most advanced medical technologies in the field of cancer treatment. This device is used to accelerate protons for the treatment of cancerous tumors with high precision, which enhances the effectiveness of treatment and reduces side effects on healthy tissue.
He also visited the “CyberKnife,” and was accompanied by the head of the Radiation Therapy Department at 57357. The CyberKnife is considered one of the most important devices in the field of tumor treatment using precise radiation techniques, as it provides the patient with safer and more effective treatment.
It is noteworthy that the hospital is in the process of introducing innovative treatments using “Proton Therapy,” which is a modern treatment technique involving the use of protons to target cancerous tumors, thus contributing to the treatment of difficult tumors with minimal damage to healthy tissue.
In a private meeting with the General Manager of Hospital 57357, Dr. Abu Shady expressed his great admiration for the technological advancements present within the hospital, pointing out that what he witnessed of modern cancer treatment technologies makes the hospital one of the leading institutions globally in this field. He also affirmed his readiness to provide all forms of support to the hospital to continue providing the best medical care for sick children.
Dr. Abu Shady’s visit was not limited to the technical aspects only, but he also presented beautiful gifts to the hospital’s children, which made them happy, especially in the “Art Therapy Center,” which is a recreational place where our children practice their hobbies while receiving treatment in an atmosphere of comfort and entertainment.
