Emergency care services are transferred to another location in the vicinity of the hospital to continue providing this service to our patients.

To rationalize expenditure on the up-grading operation and optimal utilization of donors’ money, we carried out optimal exploitation of our existing resources.

Works are going on fast in the emergency department to make it ready to receive patients. This department is considered the rescue haven for children with cancer facing emergencies and health crises which they are exposed to because of the disease complications and lack of immunity.  Since one second would make a difference with the emergency patient, work didn’t stop for a second during the transfer of the department to its new temporary location. Planning and preparation for the upgrade started months ago. But the transfer to the temporary location was carried out on the 25th of April, to start the implementation of the upgrading operation in the same day.

The Hospital was keen not to stop the emergency service for one second. So work would continue, with the same quality during the relocation period. Hence, work in the new temporary location started before closing the main location, so the service would not be affected. Equipment was moved and 26 beds were prepared in the new location. Since the service was transferred, the department staff and nursing were working to comfort children and offer the service accurately, qualitatively and in a timely manner.

“The purpose of the upgrading operation is to offer a bigger place to be able to receive more children, which means saving the lives of the largest number of children exposed to health crises during the treatment period”, said Dr. Ahmed Emad, head of the emergency department.

Currently we started the equipment disassembly process in the old location. Within the framework of maximum exploitation of existing resources, we carried out the disassembly process while preserving all the parts that can be reused. Work on the new location is expected to be completed within 9 months, and the temporary emergency location would become an extension of the department, to receive children in case of lacking beds in the inpatient department.
